Ski Waxing Device Survey

For my senior design course in the University of Wisconsin School of Engineering, my group is proposing to design an automatic device for waxing skis, with quality as an utmost concern. The proposed device would lock the skis in, remove the old wax, apply the new wax evenly, incubate the skis for adequate penetration, and scrape off the extra wax after application. The device would probably not be marketed to individual skiers but rather to ski tuning shops and lodges.

With regard to many aspects of our design, it would be helpful to get information from the weekly skier. Any respnse, positive or negative, would be appreciated.

1) How long does it take you to wax a single pair of skis on average?

2) How often do you wax your skis?

3) If a lodge made this device available, say in the lobby for some fee, how much would you pay for the service?

4) Please give us any suggestions or tell us about amenities that you would like to see featured in our device.

5) Any other comments?

Thank you for your time, your honesty is appreciated.
